Well my belt finally broke. No it wasn't because I've gained too much weight, although I must admit that would be a good guess. It was my belt buckle. My buckle has been falling off my belt for at least a year now but I've always been able to put it back on. I wasn't so lucky today. So after I came back to work from the gym, I had to hold up pants by walking around with both hands in my front pockets. Real professional huh? I thought I could go the entire day like that but I was wrong. A trip to Target was a must.
At the gym you say? So I entered into this March Madness thing at the Clocktower Gold's where, in order to meet your goal, you must complete 25 classes in 31 days. It started last Saturday and runs through April 4th.
That's a pretty tall order for a guy who has only completed 5 classes in about 5 years.
Ouch.
So I've done 3 classes in 6 days so far. Not bad but it really looks like I might be in spot towards the end where I need to take 2 different classes in the same day.
There's a catch. Did I mention the catch? You can't just take the same kind of classes over and over again. You have to take a certain number of a particular type of class - aerobic, strength training, yoga, cycling. I can't imagine taking yoga but I'm going to have to take it. I don't really know what it is but I'm sure about one thing. I will suck at it.
I popped my cycling cherry today. I even had to sign up in advance. What a hassle right? So here's how the class went. My butt hurt for the first 20 minutes. After that my legs were starting to get tired and I was sweating my ass off so I forgot about the crappy seat for the next 40 minutes. If I had it my way we would have done more standing. But I got my sticker. 22 to go baby.
The instructor, when giving me my sticker upon completion, asked me if I was only there for the sticker. I saw no reason to lie and said, "Yeah. You got me".
Did I mention that there is a big board in front of the gym where you put your stickers? Well there is and I'll be damned if I don't complete this contest.
OMG I almost forgot. I sat down on my bike and I looked over to my right and realized I had made a huge mistake. I was right next to the girl that I use as a crutch during Body Combat. What I mean by that is that I watch what she does in order to follow along in the class. She's a pro. I watch her instead of the instructor sometimes because the instructor is doing things with the opposite arm/leg than what we are doing since she's facing us. She probably doesn't even notice that I'm doing it but in my head she is going to be presenting me with a restraining order the next time I take Body Combat. I even considered bringing it up after class just to break the ice but I didn't want her to mace me.

I so wish I had a video tape of you in those classes! Especially the Body Pump and the Yoga. I might just have to join you for that one - hopefully I can actually do it without laughing too hard. :)
