10 down...15 to go

I reached double digits in my crusade to complete 25 classes in 31 days at the Clocktower Gold's by taking two classes today. I scratched off my first YOGA class and knocked off another cycling class.

Since Yoga is so cool they have their own little room. It's a room I've only looked at from afar. But today was the big day. Today was the day I had to cross the line and man up.

So right from the start I was identified as a newcomer. I walk right in and this lady goes, "You will need at least one mat, two blocks, and a rope." Maybe she was thrown off by unusual Yoga attire. I went with the super huge blue georgetown game shorts, an X-man long sleeve t shirt and red soccer socks. I guess I sorta stuck out. I was quickly told that I had to be barefoot for the entire time. I said ok as long as I get my sticker.

The teacher was actually pretty cool. She tried to scare me by saying that we would be jumping right into hand and head stands after a quick review of the previous classes. I was instantly relieved when I heard a bunch of snickers from the peanut gallery. My count had me as the only guy in a class of 13 women.

I almost fell asleep after the first part where we had to shut our eyes and count our breaths. I mean I almost litterally fell asleep. What would you expect right?
I kinda wish I would have because the class was pretty difficult. Lots of core work. Lots of balance. Stretching. Lots and lots of stretching. You know come to think of it: I should seriously take that class once a week just so I'm more flexibile. It would probably add some distance to my goal kicks.

There was one little problem that keeps following me around from class to class, day to day, everything to everything: It's my freaking shoulder. I'm starting to think that I might have to have that little surgery my doctor suggested a few months ago.

Cycling:
Cycling with Joyce is great. She's always making fun of people. Nobody is out of bounds. She also caught me trying to lean on the handlebars late in the class when we were supposed to have our butts in the air while we stand up. Look it was hard ok. I needed a break. Plus my freaking shoulder was hurting again. In cycling class. How that happens I'll never understand.

Um... I think there is an I TOLD YOU SO!!! somewhere in your article. Down dogs are killer on your shoulders and instructors just love to keep you in that pose forever!

I'm glad you like it, even though I knew you thought it was going to be a pussy class. You get some serious benefits out of it! There are plenty of classes online if you want to keep up with it. I can show you a nice sequence you might have gone through today. It's great to do in the mornings. :)
