hardest part of the season

Bad seasons don't die easy. The fact that other teams and, more specifically, other highly ranked teams that the Hoyas previously defeated this season are still playing makes the last few weekend sting that much more than normal.

But what the hell? It's the Sweet 16 and it starts tonight!

Purdue vs UCONN: I think this is the most boring game of the Sweet 16. I can't believe Purdue is still playing basketball. The Big Eleven is the worst. Don't get me wrong as I would find it hilarious if they won, but I'm not counting on it.

Missouri vs Memphis: I remember when Missouri started to slowly creep up the AP rankings this past season. I thought to myself, "No chance they are actually good."

Well it turns out they aren't too bad. I still like Memphis and their length at all five starting positions. I think Coach Cal will have Evans for another year because he definitely can't shoot well enough to play in the League yet. Memphis is the team I have coming out of this bracket so I hope they win. I guess.

Xavier vs Pitt:
Nothing would make me happier tonight than to see Pitt lose to the Musketeers. Nothing. Coach Dixon just rubs me the wrong way. He's got a lot of clever things to say for somebody that's never made it past this round. Could this be the last time I have to watch that incredible Sam Young pump fake in college? Stay tuned.

Villanova vs Duke:
This is my game of the Night. My hatred runs deep for both teams. In those cases the tie always goes in favor of the conference foe. Note: I hope that Syracuse and Maryland never play each other. I won't know how to handle it. I've also got the Scottie angle. I would leave work to see him play a bunch during his Junior and Senior years in high school. It's only about 10 minutes from here. I know it's become cliche to say, but I freaking hate Duke. I don't wish Jesse a bad night rooting for his boys but I really hate the way they operate.

LET'S GET IT ON!!!

sign that its almost over

One of the top four stories on Yahoo! this morning is undeniable proof that the world is going to end shortly.

This was the story: Nicolas Cage Weird Facts.

So sad. With all due respect to Dr. Stanley Goodspeed, he's not even a good actor.

Things seen on the way to work today: I was behind a school bus that made the left turn into the Fairfax County Transfer Station aka THE DUMP. Talk about a horrible field trip.

Depressing.

I counted 4 kids at various bus stops wearing shorts. Shorts? Really? My truck indicated to me that it was 34 degrees this morning. Pretty good parents.

NBA: I'm tired of watching the Pistons. AI, 'Sheed, and Rip are currently on the shelf. What that means is that they can't buy a win. At this rate they won't even make the playoffs. I'm sure Prince is having fun.

Called it.

the "coin" bracket by bobby bancroft

So I picked up this idea from the Notre Dame message board. I've been afflicted with a severe case of the bracekt blues this year. Some mess about a team that plays at Verizon. But moving on I found my motivation in the form of a quarter I borrowed from a co-worker down the hall.

The "coin" bracket. Here's what you do:

You fill in the top 4 seeds in each region as winners of their opening games. Out of those 16 teams you figure that at least 12 or 13 will win. Then for the rest of the games you use a coin. I went with "heads" for the team with the smaller number by their name and "tails" for the team with the higher number by their name.

I came up with two teams making it to Detroit that are very likely to be there on their merit. I came up with one team that could make it. Then I came up with one team that has a better chance of losing in round one than making the Final Four.

Who are the teams?

Memphis...no surpirse
Pitt....still no biggie
Wake...kind of a darkhorse
Temple...HOLY SH*T!

well that's that

It's over.

The most disappointing season, in terms of what could have been, is in the books. I've never seen anything like it. I hope I never see anything remotely like it again.

When people ask me what happened to the team this season, I usually have this long drawn out reply full of details they don't really want to digest. But now I have the Baylor game. All anybody has to do is watch the Baylor game. The 31st game of the year is a mirror image for all 31 games combined.

They started out the game with their guns blazing. They had great spacing, found back door cutters, had some high low action, everything was great and they were up 10.

In the second half Baylor made all the right adjustments and just took it to them. The Hoyas were victimized by numerous out of bounds plays for alley oops. They basically let other teams do whatever they want after calling a timeout. It's sickening. They also had their patented 4 to 5 minute scoring drought which was immediately followed up by poor shot selection. And by poor shot selection I mean really bad three point attempts. It seemed like Monroe wasn't getting the touches he needed but then when he did, he coughed it up 3 straight times. All very, very typical. All the ingredients you need for one final second half collapse.

Watching the NIT is weird. I wasn't my usual self. I was able to watch most of the game in my recliner. That never happens. I am usually on the edge of my seat. If I'm not on the edge of my seat I'm walking around the basement. Oh I almost forgot the talking part. I'm constantly talking, swearing, yelling, etc, etc during these games. Not much of that was going on last night. The NIT is basically a tournament long reminder that you failed. It's not that great.

I hate the way Jessie Sapp's career ended.

Season's over. I hope JT3 doesn't see his wife or kids for the next 2 months. He needs to recruit his ass off. He better have started his recruiting odyssey last night. I hope he didn't take the plane back to DC.

Fix it John.

3 extra days...

The good people at the Clocktower have extended the contest 3 extra days through April 7th. The reasoning behind the decision had to do with the amount of people trying to fit into the classes. Well at least that's the rumor floating around.

Current standing: 11/25...14 left with 20 days remaining. No problem. In fact I'm not taking the extra 3 days. I have 14 left with 17 days remaining. Screw the handout. Take your stimulus and shove it!

Today was a Body Combat day. That is easily my favorite class. You have to show up well before kickoff because it has quickly become the most popular class available. And not just any session, but the Noon session on Wednesdays. People are flocking to Kristin's class in groves.

You know who isn't flocking to it? That girl that I used to used to watch from time to time when I got lost in the routine. Just as I figured. She probably moved to Idaho and changed her name already for fear that I was stalking her. You wish! Later brah.

So I have this new watch that I just broke out of the box - the Garmin Forerunner 305 WITH heart rate. I turned it on and it's been "Locating Satellites" for about an hour. At first I thought it was going to be smarter than me but, upon further review, I think I may have spoke too soon. I feel like I could have found a satellite by now on my own.

It should be a pretty cool watch if it ever locates one of those pesky flying objects we have orbiting our planet.

I'll keep everybody updated.

NIT Gameday

It's a weird feeling.

I mean it's cool that I get to watch the Hoyas play again tonight, but it's sorta depressing at the same time. The only time you actually feel good about the NIT is when you win the NIT. This team will not win the NIT. I think it's pretty unlikely that they pick up a W tonight in Waco.

After about two months of being completely dumbfounded and frustrated by what I've seen on the hardwood, I have absolutely no idea what to expect. Nothing would surprise me. I wouldn't be the least bit taken back if some of the guys didn't even make the trip for whatever reason - injured, academics, trasnfer, who knows.

What would I like to see? I'd like to see a starting lineup of:

Wright
Sapp
Summers
Monroe
Sims/Vaughn

My reasoning: Freeman seems banged up. He missed the first St. John's game and hasn't looked good in the two games since then. I'd sit Nikita because he just doesn't have it. I think he can be a contributor - he's got 3 more seasons - but he has that whole "deer in the headlights" look to him at the moment. I understand why John plugged him in there but it didn't work.

I saw a bunch of Baylor this past weekend and they were playing like a team that wanted to compete. Georgetown doesn't give me that vibe right now. Losing tonight wouldn't be the end of the world. In fact, it won't be a big deal at all. Hey idiot don't you think Sapp would like to get back to MSG one last time? JT3 has some recruiting to do. The good news is that one of the guys he is trying to bring to the Hilltop is from Texas. Hopefully Latavious Williams will be at the game and get another chance to talk to the staff. He was at the DePaul game about 10 days ago.

Potential problem: If the Hoyas defy all of the odds and come up with a win tonight they will most likely travel to Blacksburg within the next 5 days or so. I will be really tempted to go even though it's no big deal. I have a sickness that no medicine can contain.

10 down...15 to go

I reached double digits in my crusade to complete 25 classes in 31 days at the Clocktower Gold's by taking two classes today. I scratched off my first YOGA class and knocked off another cycling class.

Since Yoga is so cool they have their own little room. It's a room I've only looked at from afar. But today was the big day. Today was the day I had to cross the line and man up.

So right from the start I was identified as a newcomer. I walk right in and this lady goes, "You will need at least one mat, two blocks, and a rope." Maybe she was thrown off by unusual Yoga attire. I went with the super huge blue georgetown game shorts, an X-man long sleeve t shirt and red soccer socks. I guess I sorta stuck out. I was quickly told that I had to be barefoot for the entire time. I said ok as long as I get my sticker.

The teacher was actually pretty cool. She tried to scare me by saying that we would be jumping right into hand and head stands after a quick review of the previous classes. I was instantly relieved when I heard a bunch of snickers from the peanut gallery. My count had me as the only guy in a class of 13 women.

I almost fell asleep after the first part where we had to shut our eyes and count our breaths. I mean I almost litterally fell asleep. What would you expect right?
I kinda wish I would have because the class was pretty difficult. Lots of core work. Lots of balance. Stretching. Lots and lots of stretching. You know come to think of it: I should seriously take that class once a week just so I'm more flexibile. It would probably add some distance to my goal kicks.

There was one little problem that keeps following me around from class to class, day to day, everything to everything: It's my freaking shoulder. I'm starting to think that I might have to have that little surgery my doctor suggested a few months ago.

Cycling:
Cycling with Joyce is great. She's always making fun of people. Nobody is out of bounds. She also caught me trying to lean on the handlebars late in the class when we were supposed to have our butts in the air while we stand up. Look it was hard ok. I needed a break. Plus my freaking shoulder was hurting again. In cycling class. How that happens I'll never understand.

Big East Tournament Day 5

Well after 7 overtimes over two games, Louisville was finally able to smash the stake through Syracue's big, orange heart.

I have to admit that I didn't watch the end of this game. I was tired and I really couldn't bring myself to root for either team. I hate Syracuse with all my heart but at the same time I didn't like the idea of Louisville winning a conference tournament.

It was the first time in three years that Georgetown wasn't playing under the bright NYC lights and it was a major league bummer. There's nothing like Saturday Night at the Garden. I want to be there next year.

Well it's been a few days and the brackets are all out. All four of them!

NCAA
NIT
CBI
Collegeinsider.com

All four tournaments have games tonight. Saint Patrick would be so proud. I mean let's be realistic here: The NIT is one more tournament than we need. To add 2 more tournaments over the last 2 years is ridiculous. No wait that's not true. It's beyond ridiculous. It's insane.

Big East Tournament Day 4

Well Day 3 of the Big East Tournament turned into Day 4 of the Big East Tournament last night. I've never seen anything like it. SIX OVERTIMES!

All I wanted to do was go to bed but I couldn't. Something is wrong with me. I had to watch two of the teams that I despise the most finish their game. What's worse than watching a normal 40 minute Syracuse - UCONN game? Oh I don't know? Maybe a 70 minute Syracuse - UCONN game that ends in a victory for the Orange. That's what.

I had actually gone to Glory Days to watch the Pitt - WVU game earlier in the night. It's not often that I hang out with Elgin so I decided that it was a good idea. Plus I had been craving some GDays sliders for a few days anyway. I was glad to see WVU come away victorious. I had no idea that when I left there at about 915pm I would still be watching the 2nd part of the doubleheader past 1am.

No idea.

I had a few non - game thoughts. What did they do about beer sales? They generally stop selling beer with about 10 minutes left in the second half. The six overtimes took about an hour and a half. That means that those fans had to watch that junk for at least 2 hours without beer. That seems criminal.

The train. I'm assuming that most of the fans at the game were taking the trains home. Something tells me that there were a lot of people hanging out at Penn Station last night. And by "hanging out" I mean sleeping there. Maybe it's good that the Hoyas didn't play yesterday. Yesterday was the day I was going to be up there if they were playing. I would have definitely taken the NJ Transit in for the game. Might have sucked.

The worst part about the whole thing is that Syracuse came away on top. I mean it's definitely cool that UCONN hasn't won a BET game since 2005 but we are talking about the Orange here. They start a white trash shooting guard that likes to spend his free time beating up girls at frat parties. Nice. Just nice.

WVU has to beat them tonight. That's the only option. I can't stand Sean McDonough openly rooting for his team anymore. It's beyond human comprehension. I might drive up there tonight and challenge him to a duel later. I'm strongly considering it.

In the first game I really don't care that much. If I had to pick a team, I'd pick Villanova. I like the fact that none of the "new" teams have won the BET. Villanova is the only real team left that I can even stomach winning it. Sure I hate Villanova but they aren't some cheap Conf-USA trash.

NON BET Games. I will be the biggest Wake Forest fan on the planet tonight. Please, please, please don't let Team Suck upset you later. I can't stand them and their shitty fans. I'd rather have my appendix taken out while I'm awake then see Gary in the tournament this, or any other, year.

mid-day report

Well my belt finally broke. No it wasn't because I've gained too much weight, although I must admit that would be a good guess. It was my belt buckle. My buckle has been falling off my belt for at least a year now but I've always been able to put it back on. I wasn't so lucky today. So after I came back to work from the gym, I had to hold up pants by walking around with both hands in my front pockets. Real professional huh? I thought I could go the entire day like that but I was wrong. A trip to Target was a must.

At the gym you say? So I entered into this March Madness thing at the Clocktower Gold's where, in order to meet your goal, you must complete 25 classes in 31 days. It started last Saturday and runs through April 4th.

That's a pretty tall order for a guy who has only completed 5 classes in about 5 years.

Ouch.

So I've done 3 classes in 6 days so far. Not bad but it really looks like I might be in spot towards the end where I need to take 2 different classes in the same day.

There's a catch. Did I mention the catch? You can't just take the same kind of classes over and over again. You have to take a certain number of a particular type of class - aerobic, strength training, yoga, cycling. I can't imagine taking yoga but I'm going to have to take it. I don't really know what it is but I'm sure about one thing. I will suck at it.

I popped my cycling cherry today. I even had to sign up in advance. What a hassle right? So here's how the class went. My butt hurt for the first 20 minutes. After that my legs were starting to get tired and I was sweating my ass off so I forgot about the crappy seat for the next 40 minutes. If I had it my way we would have done more standing. But I got my sticker. 22 to go baby.

The instructor, when giving me my sticker upon completion, asked me if I was only there for the sticker. I saw no reason to lie and said, "Yeah. You got me".

Did I mention that there is a big board in front of the gym where you put your stickers? Well there is and I'll be damned if I don't complete this contest.

OMG I almost forgot. I sat down on my bike and I looked over to my right and realized I had made a huge mistake. I was right next to the girl that I use as a crutch during Body Combat. What I mean by that is that I watch what she does in order to follow along in the class. She's a pro. I watch her instead of the instructor sometimes because the instructor is doing things with the opposite arm/leg than what we are doing since she's facing us. She probably doesn't even notice that I'm doing it but in my head she is going to be presenting me with a restraining order the next time I take Body Combat. I even considered bringing it up after class just to break the ice but I didn't want her to mace me.

Big East Tournament Day 3

The only positive I can think of is that I saved a lot of money today. Had the Hoyas still been playing on Day 3, I would have had my fat ass at Madison Square Garden. I think the best way to do it is to drive up to MetroPark on the NJ Transit system and then take thee train into Penn Station.

Oh well. Maybe next year.

So after 2 days we are left with the top 8 seeds. After two upsets on Day 1, we saw all the favorites go through into Day 3.

Here's an updated Bracekt.

The first game of the day session brings us Louisville vs Providence. Of course I'll be rooting for the Friars but I don't see them winning. Louisville went out in their first game last year so I really think they will be ready for this one. While I find Pitno annoying, I don't complete want to throw up when I think of his team winning. Providenc has had a good year but this is where it ends. See you in the NIT boys. I like the Cardinals to advance.

Marquette vs Villanova. This is a tough match-up. The team that I hate the least would be Villanova. If I hold my nose I can root for the Wildcats. I will have to throw-up afterwards, but its doable. Buzz Williams has quickly become one of the most annoying coaches in America. I like the Wildcats to advance.

The night session is going to be freaking insane. The amount of crazy fans will be an at all time high. Syracuse, UCONN, and Pitt really bring a high volume of annoying, obnoxious, drunk fans with them for their games. All three of those teams will be playing. And if I know fans of the Mountaineers, they won't settle for being the least drunk and obnoxious. They will step up their game. I know it.

WVU vs Pitt. WVU is the team I'm rooting for right now because of Alex Ruoff. Their only hope is getting Blair in foul trouble. I'd love for Dixon's smug ass to get an early tournament loss. I like WVU. This is my only "upset" pick of the day. Of course I have a hard time calling a game between two bitter rivals an upset. They know each other. They hate each other. There aren't any surprises.

Syracuse vs UCONN. I'd be fine if the earth opened up and swallowed the entire arena during this game. I guess that's probably unlikely so if I have to root for something, I'll root for UCONN. If you think that I can root for Syracuse, even in the NCAA Tournament when you are supposed to root for your conference rivals to do well, then you are completely lost of all reality. For the love of all things Ewing, I can't root for team white trash. I just can't. I also think it's ridiculous for Sean McDonough to call their games. He openly root for his alma mater. It's embarrassing. He was doing it last night. What a joke. Another example of unbiased broadcast journalism by the WWL. Called it. I like UCONN. But only because of who they are playing.

Day 2 update

Well DePaul led for most of the game but came up short. It would have been a cool story if they had won back to back games after losing 18 straight. Oh well. Providence gets one more chance for a quality win. It looks more likely that they will be in the NIT.

OMG what is going on in this game? This is the St. John's team that I remember from last year. You know - the one that totally sucks. It was 38 - 10 at halftime in favor of Marquette. What a joke. The bigger joke is the team that lost to St. John's yesterday. I hope they are watching this and feeling pretty bad about it.

The only thing worse than making a shit sandwich is having to eat it. How's that taste fellas?

Big East Tournament Day 2

Well the tournament must go on. Georgetown's ending was very fitting given the way their season has gone since Jan 17. More on that some other time. I'm not going to let them ruin this tournament for me. It's my favorite sporting event of the year.

How about those Blue Demons of DePaul? It took 19 games but they finally got their first win in the conference. I'd love to see them make it 2 in a row today.

I'd also like to see St. John's take out Marquette. Their coach, Buzz Williams, really rubs me the wrong way. Go RedMen.

Later tonight I'm pulling for Seton Hall in their game against Syracuse and West Virginia in their game against Notre Dame.

Big East Tournament Day 1

Need a bracket? It's right here.

I can't believe it has come to this. I have to watch a "must win" game in a series of "must win" games on my computer at work. At this point I hope they win just so I have another meaningful game to watch in HD tomorrow.

I have the Cincinnati - DePaul game on in the background just so there aren't any surprises when I try and watch the game of the day at 230pm. The stream is ok. The only real problem is the annoying ass Gatorade, I mean G, commercials they keep playing. Oh wait I almost forgot. When the game first started they were crediting the other team for the basket. It looks like they have that all figured out now though.

Watching this game I can't believe that these are the Hoyas in-conference peers. What a fall from grace from the past few years huh?

Oh well. There's nothing like the Big East Tournament. If they are still playing Thursday I think I'll be there.

I'd like to see them pass more to Monroe. It doesn't matter if he looks to score himself or not. They just need to get stuff going inside. He can either score or pass it back for easier looks on the perimeter. I think Wright needs to try and take over. It's their only chance of advancing.

I think a trip to the Semi-finals on Friday Night would get them into the NCAA's. The problem with that is that they won't be playing Friday Night.

i heart twitter

Twitter. What a great deal huh? It's especially great for those of us that don't utilize the internet feature on our phones.

So I get back to my truck after taking another Body Combat class (I'm horrible at throwing hooks) and I've got all kinds of great updates.

Brendan is alive and walking on the trail somewhere.

Landon Donovan played 10 minutes in his final game with Bayern Munich.

Kilroys is having a TT Reynolds reunion tonight.

Cincinnati is leading Seton Hall.

Eddie Johnson scored for Cardiff City.

Georgetown Lax is losing to Syracuse.

Ok so that last update I got was completely worthless but 5 out of 6 ain't half bad.

Well it's almost time to leave for the last Georgetown game of the season. I hate the weather. This isn't Big East Basketball weather. I wish it was still snowing. Now that's what it's all about baby. Maybe we can get some bad weather next week up in New York City.

If you get bored ther's always Twitter to keep your warm.

later brah

Happy Jessie Sapp Day!

Today will be the last home game for the first class recruited by John Thompson III to Georgetown. It was a four man class that, after transfers, is down to just a one man class.

That man is Jessie Sapp. The Mayor of Onion Town.

He didn't play that much as a freshman but he hit some huge shots with the biggest being a three point dagger against Northern Iowa in the first round of the 2006 NCAA Tournament. The Hoyas hadn't been in the tournament since 2001 and he made sure that there stay was longer than 40 minutes.

The next season he replaced Ashanti Cook in the starting lineup and would go on to be a steady force on a team that would win the Big East Regular Season title, Big East Tournament Championship, and go to the Final Four. This was the best season of Hoya Hoops in 22 years. Sapp was a big part of the Elite 8 comeback against UNC in the East Regional Final.

My personal highlights: I still have visions of him just taking Lawson to the hoop without any opposition from 'ol Ty. Who could forget his 60 foot heave at Villanova? I had just gotten up to start my walk down to the concession stands for another beer when Jessie decided to swish a three point dagger from Downtown. Or how about his performance against Belmont down in Winston Salem in Round one of the NCAA's?

Year 3 was THE YEAR for Jessie. Already being a staple in the Hoyas starting lineup, Jessie really upped his accuracy from three point range, hitting on more than 40% of his shots. He helped the Hoyas successfully defend their Big East Regular season title and got them back to the Big East Tournament final.

My personal highlights: I guess Jessie decided that with Jeff leaving for the pros it was up to him to come through in the clutch. The best moment was his last second three at West Virginia that sent about 12,000 hillbillies into a drunken temper tantrum. He just crossed up Ruoff and found nothing but the bottom of the net. He also brough the Hoyas back from dead at home against UCONN and Syracuse to help perserve the home court winning streak.

Year 4 hasn't gone the way anybody would have liked. Looking back at everything it seems as if Jessie was caught in the transition. He will always be linked with the guys from one class ahead of him. An intregal part of bringing back Hoya Paranoia, Jessie wasn't able to carry the load by himself. We could sit around and try and figure out what went wrong for hours but what's the difference really?

My personal highlights: Shutting down Vasquez and making Maryland look like the JV's down in Orlando. How about finishing off the Huskies at UCONN? I also admire the way he has handled his role off the bench. I know it's not where he wants to be. It's not where he should be. But it is what it is. I'm hoping that I can add some memories during the Big East Tournament. We shall see.

It's been a great career for the Mayor of Onion Town. Every program needs guys like Jessie Sapp. He was never going to go pro early. He's been tough as nails and a solid contributor all four years, three of those as a starter. I don't know him personally but I would like to thank him for all his efforts on the court. After all the wins and losses it's all about being proud of a team that has provided fans like myself some enjoyment and escape from our daily lives, if only for a couple of hours a week. The amount of time and effort that the players put into this during their 4 years in school is unbelieable.

Thanks brah.

am update brah

It's fast approaching noon so what has happened before we hit the PM hours on this glorious Friday.

I'm addicted to Twitter. I think I just figured out how to get my updates going to my phone. I thought I had that all worked out yesterday, but I didn't. It's a weird thing. It's like you can text the world but at the same time you aren't texting anybody. So awesome and so sad all at once.

Brendan update: For those of you that don't know there is only one way to follow the big guy while he's walking on the Trail.

http://twitter.com/bcampbell51

He hasn't given us an update since last night so I'm left to assume that he was mauled by a black bear.

More Twitter: The best thing about this site is the amount of Arsenal updates I'm getting that I wouldn't have normally received. Can't wait to see Theo make his return this weekend against Burnley. It's Carling Cup payback biotch!

TO: The Redskins should sign him. Why not? This is what they do. They make the big splash ever offseason only to end up right where they ended the previous seasons - somewhere between 6 and 9 wins. Might as well give TO a try and see what happens. It can't be much worse than most of the other junk they have tried. I mean it's not like they are going to try and build a team for the long haul. They don't take the draft seriously so they might as well go bonkers and see where they end up.

You know what I'm really tired of hearing? Everybody saying that he is a "cancer" for whichever team that he is on. To me that phrase seems to make light of a horrible, often devastating, disease. No matter what Owens does for a team, he doesn't actually kill the members. Being a disruptive force off the field by making ridiculous comments doesn't really compare to a life threatening disease. It's just as annoying as when somebody says a particular game is going to be like a "war". Let's try and find some better analogies guys. Go back and study for the SAT's and try again.

stuff i could do without

Everyday it becomes harder and harder to ignore. It's been a top story on my Yahoo! homepage for 2 or 3 days now. It's impossible to ignore but I'm doing my best. It's even accompanied with a picture of a reasonably attractive girl with what looks like tears coming down her face. The headline has something about being "lied to" in it. Who cares? Well not me.

I refuse to read something about "The Bachelor". There's no chance it's an interesting story. It's a real sad state of affairs when something that happened on reality TV is getting treated like an actual news story.

Baseball: More specifically - Arod. Yeah I get it. He's used to inject steroids into his buttocks. And this is surprising to people because why? There was a period of time where most players were using some sort of performance enhancing drug. Who cares? It was a level playing field. Let's just move on. I don't know why this commands so much coverage. I get the feeling that a cure for cancer wouldn't even demand the amount of coverage that this garbage gets.

For some reason baseball isn't even consumed like the other major sports. Baseball is all about the numbers. It's a game for stats. I don't know why but that's just the way it is. So now that Arod is a known user, everybody's panties are in a bunch because everybody was so in love with the notion that he would over take Bonds as the all time leader in home runs. Well so much for that losers. Just accept it and move one. Baseball was far too slow to move on testing policies so this is what you get. There's no reason to put an * next to records because so many people were on the stuff.

If you look hard enough you can find reasons to discount all records throughout time. Ruth's numbers would look a lot different had MLB been open to black players. Decades later MLB changed the height of the pitching mound which greatly effected statistics. It is what it is my man. I guess the steroids issue was easier for most people to handle when they could just focus all of their anger at Bonds. The whole single villain theme is just not as complicated.

Paying $21 for a beer and a stale pretzel. Yeah that's right. About 20 minutes before kickoff of the US - Mexico game I got hungry so I went to the concession stand. A beer and a pretzel was $10.50. I mean that's bad enough right? Well not for me. The idiot behind the counter at Crew Stadium couldn't get my card to work. Then he brought over some of his idiot co-workers (probably on a work release program) and they came up with nothing. Since I was starving I went along with their idea to try another card. I did, however, say, "Now you aren't going to charge both cards right?" They assured me that it would be ok.

Did they charge both cards? Of course they did. I already saw it on my POS transactions a few weeks ago and then I saw that friendly charge on my credit card today. I can't wait to try and fix this. Something tells me I'm just going to be bending over and taking it from those idiots in Ohio. Awesome.
