Well it looks as though we are about to go two straight days without a high schooler committing to play basketball for the Georgetown Hoyas. I was really getting used to all of the buzz surrounding the daily signings.
Now it's all about waiting to see what Latavious Williams decides to do. All things considered, that's not such a bad hand to have at the table right now.
Think about it.
Just two weeks ago Hoya fans were looking at:
1. Heavy suspicion that Omar was leaving
2. Nobody knew what Monroe would do
3. Were anymore Freshmen going to be showing up in the fall of '09?
So we found out that Omar was leaving which was a drag but Monroe decided to stick around. Greg staying gives the program hope in the short term - aka next season. A complete disaster was avoided. The Hoyas have enough problems with other schools bashing them to recruits because of their style of a play. They don't need to be able to point to Greg Monroe as exhibit A.
And then we get to the new guys. I feel like the Vee Sanford commitment hasn't gotten as much attention as it should because because most people were just caught way off guard by Jerrelle Benimon.
When things started to go bad during this past season, there were always two names mentioned as quality players that the program would be lucky to bring in for the upcoming fall: Vee Sanford (we got him!) and Latavious Williams.
Looks like it's going to be a fight between him being eligible and Memphis. I like Georgetown's chances should he be eligible to play this fall.
Things are looking a lot better. So much so that most of us fans can sit back and argue about a kid from Fauquier that nobody seems to know that much about. Luckily it doesn't stop most people from having strong opinions about every aspect of his game!
