april 26th came early - Greg Monroe stays!
I have April 26th circled on my calendar.
Why?
April 26th is the last day for college basketball players to announce that they are entering the 2009 NBA Draft.
Luckily I didn't have to wait until that day to find out what Greg was going to decide. I've basically been looking at my phone with one eye closed everytime I got a tweet. That was always going to be the way I found out - just like with Summers.
I mean do you know how hard it has been to keep in all of the "mini-celebrations" I have had in my head ever seen the "see you never" train as departed from the Big East? Guys like Devendorf, Flynn, Thabeet, Blair, Harris, Clark have all announced that they are leaving. I didn't want to jinx myself.
Here's how I found out: I just got to BWU for the 2nd leg of Arsenal - Villarreal when I got the Tweet from Georgetown: Monroe is staying. About a minute later Walcott scored. Then the first wave of my "All you can Eat" wings and fries arrived at my table.
Best Wednesday in a long time brah.
Looking ahead I want this starting lineup:
Wright
Freeman
Thompson
Simms/(Williams if they get him)
Monroe.
I reserve the right to change my opinion after watching summer league games. Clark might be a sexier pick than Freeman. And Freeman would give them more reliable scoring off the bench. It's all up in the air until we see where Latavious decides to enroll.
